PROFESSIONAL SOLIDARITY – means mutual support, particularly in difficult situations, the prohibition of giving unfounded unfavourable opinions about the work of colleagues, the use of discrediting or insulting terms. This understanding is connected with the concept of → loyalty. Well understood p.s. means not hiding the truth about the behaviour of public administration officials who are dishonest, unethical, and break the law. P.s. in public administration does not exclude the phenomenon of whistleblowing (signalling irregularities; → whistleblowing scheme). Whistleblowers (→ whistleblower) are employees who, in the case of corruption in the institutions they work at, inform the proper authorities or the public opinion about the offenses [ J.
